It has taken two years but finally the government has agreed and issued the rules for digital nomads.
Digital nomad visas
- For the Digital Nomad Visa eligible non-EU nationals include those who carry out highly qualified activities through the use of technological tools that allow them to work remotely, autonomously or for a company based outside the Italian territory.
- It is for highly specialised workers from countries outside the European Union who can move their place of work to Italy and obtain a special residence permit to carry out smart working activities.
- These individuals may be self-employed workers or collaborators/employees of companies that are not resident in Italy.
- Minimum annual income 28,000 Euros.
- It is for periods exceeding 90 days.
- The resident permit is for one year.
- Extensions may be allowed.
- They must provide proof of health insurance valid in Italy.
